Police Cops: The Musical returns to Battersea with new songs and workshops

Police Cops: The Musical is set to return for public workshops at Battersea Arts Centre this autumn, featuring a fresh script and eight new songs. The show, which has enjoyed success at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Southwark Playhouse, continues to combine comedy and physical storytelling in a playful style.

Police Cops: The Musical, set in the USA in 1980, follows a mismatched duo of police officers on a mission to catch a villainous crook. The production originally appeared at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe before two award-winning runs at Southwark Playhouse.

The upcoming script-in-hand workshops, running from 25 September to 3 October 2026, will introduce eight new songs composed by Ben Adams. The sessions will be directed by Sean Foley, with Rich Morris overseeing musical supervision, orchestration, and arrangement.

Creators Zachary Hunt, Nathan Parkinson and Tom Roe, also presenting as Police Cops, will be joined on stage by Catarina de Luca, Emma Salvo and Sara Bartos. The group’s comedic style is noted for combining physical storytelling with eccentric humour.

Produced by ROYO in association with Glass Half Full Productions and James Seabright, the new workshops aim to further develop the show’s narrative and musical content ahead of future presentations. The creative team’s other works include Police Cops in Space and Badass Be Thy Name, continuing their exploration of offbeat comedy.

The return of Police Cops: The Musical fits into a wider trend of immersive and iterative theatre development at venues such as Battersea Arts Centre. Details on any subsequent performances beyond the workshops are to be confirmed.
