Rufus Hound and Susie Blake lead new tour of The Other Side of Murder

Further casting has been confirmed for Torben Betts’s latest thriller, The Other Side of Murder, which will tour UK and Ireland venues from September this year into early 2027. The production stars Rufus Hound and Susie Blake in a tale of ghostly visitations and family drama.

The Other Side of Murder, successor to Betts’s Murder at Midnight and Murder in the Dark, tells the story of TV medium Darius Divine whose family dinner takes a supernatural turn. Rufus Hound and Susie Blake star, with new cast members including Aisha Jawando as Laura, Beth Lilly as Jen, and Andy McLeod as Jason and understudy Darius.

Philip Franks directs the production with design by Colin Falconer, lighting by Jason Taylor, sound and composition by Max Pappenheim, and casting by Emma Sylvester. The show is presented by Original Theatre in association with Theatr Clwyd.

The tour begins at Theatr Clwyd, Mold on 4 September and runs there until 12 September before visiting nine other venues including Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, New Theatre Cardiff and The Gaiety Theatre, Dublin, through November. Further dates and venues are scheduled for January to March 2027.

Understudies Maddy Banks, Oliver Byng and Sarah Lawn are also part of the cast, with additional casting yet to be announced. The production will explore suspense and revelation within its ghost story framework.

This new work from Betts continues his exploration of dark, atmospheric thrillers set around murder mysteries and the supernatural, maintaining his thematic focus seen in his recent plays. The tour’s broad geographic coverage suggests an aim to reach diverse regional audiences.

Details of ticket availability have not been disclosed but will likely be announced in due course. The production’s stop at notable theatres such as Leeds Playhouse and Derby Theatre reflects continuing regional appetite for touring thrillers.

The Other Side of Murder adds a fresh chapter to the horror-thriller genre on British stages, combining family drama with spectral elements under Franks’s direction. The extended tour affirms ongoing momentum for new British playwriting in the national touring circuit.
