Ted Walliker’s Ron to premiere in-house at Riverside Studios this June
Riverside Studios will stage the world premiere of Ron, a solo show written and performed by Ted Walliker, marking the venue’s first in-house co-production. The production offers a distinctive queer narrative exploring life, love and friendship.
Ron, which follows Tony Foot as he navigates presenting a new stand-up show, will run in Studio 2 at Riverside Studios from 13 June to 5 July, with a press night on 16 June. The work is described in press materials as “an absurd, violent, genre-bending queer odyssey”.
Ted Walliker conceived, wrote, and performs Ron, also co-directing the show with Lev Govorovski. Together they designed the set and costumes, while Walliker took charge of lighting, sound design and original music.
The show previously had a run at Riverside Studios in March before returning for this extended premiere engagement.
Ron represents Riverside Studios’ first in-house co-production, inaugurating a new chapter in the organisation’s production activity as it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026.
Rhys Williamson, head of programming at Riverside, highlighted the show’s boldness and originality as emblematic of the venue’s future producing ambitions. He said Ron features “a distinctive voice at its centre” and described it as “bold, surprising and formally ambitious”.
Walliker said he wanted the production to “start in a very familiar place and then gradually slip out of control” while exploring the complex, sometimes destructive ways people express love. He also described Ron as a study in the limits of performance and storytelling.
Ron is produced by Riverside Studios Productions alongside Ted Walliker.
