Frequently Asked Questions

When is The Ballad of Johnny and June playing in Bromley?

The Ballad of Johnny and June plays at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from Monday 2 March to Saturday 7 March 2026, with performances scheduled across weekday evenings and at least one matinee during the run.

What is The Ballad of Johnny and June about?

The musical tells the life and love story of country music legends Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, following them from their early days in music through their meeting, turbulent relationship, personal struggles, and lasting partnership, all framed through the eyes of their son John Carter Cash and set to many of their most famous songs.

How long does the show last and is there an interval?

The running time for the UK tour is still listed as to be confirmed, but it is expected to run around two and a half hours including any interval, which is typical for a large-scale musical of this type.

Is the show suitable for children?

The production is generally recommended for ages 12 and above because it includes themes such as addiction, marital strain, and adult relationships, along with some mild language and emotional intensity that may be too strong for younger children.

Has The Ballad of Johnny and June won any awards?

The musical is a relatively new production that premiered in North America before heading to the UK, and it has received strong critical praise for its performances and staging, with early runs picking up regional theatre awards and nominations, helping to build its reputation ahead of the UK and Ireland tour.

What kind of music is in the show?

The score features many of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash’s signature numbers, such as driving country, rockabilly, and heartfelt ballads, woven together with additional material to support the storytelling, so audiences can expect both well-known hits and songs that deepen the characters’ emotional journeys.

Where is the show performed in Bromley?

All Bromley performances take place at the Churchill Theatre, a major local venue in the town centre with raked seating, good sightlines from most areas, and a range of ticket bands from the stalls to the upper levels.

How can I get the cheapest tickets?

To find cheaper tickets, look at off-peak performances such as weekday evenings or matinees, check for limited-time offers or discount codes from theatre mailing lists, consider seats in the upper circle or towards the sides of the auditorium, and compare prices across different authorised ticket sellers to spot promotional deals.

Are there any special discounts available?

Promotions for this tour can include early booking offers, occasional percentage discounts on selected bands, and group rates for larger bookings, so it is worth signing up to the theatre’s newsletter, watching seasonal sales, and calling the box office to ask about concessions for students, under-26s, seniors, or local residents.

Can I buy last-minute tickets on the day?

Last-minute tickets are often available at the box office on the day of performance, and you may find returns or unsold seats at lower prices, but popular evenings and Saturday shows can sell out, so flexible theatregoers looking for the best value should favour midweek dates and be prepared to accept higher or side-view seats.

What is the best way to travel to the Churchill Theatre?

The Churchill Theatre is a short walk from Bromley’s main rail stations and is served by several local bus routes, while drivers should plan ahead for evening parking in nearby car parks, allow extra time for traffic, and check any parking charges or time limits before the show.

Do I need to know Johnny Cash’s music to enjoy the musical?

You do not need to be a dedicated Johnny Cash fan to enjoy the show because it is designed as a character-driven story about love, fame, and resilience, with the familiar songs helping fans relive classic moments while newcomers discover the music through a clear narrative and emotionally engaging performances.
