The Greatest Showman musical to open at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2027
Disney Theatrical Group has confirmed that its stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will transfer to the West End, opening at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027. The move follows a sold-out run at Bristol Hippodrome earlier this year and marks the third Disney production at the iconic venue.
The Greatest Showman musical is based on the 2017 film about P T Barnum’s rise to fame and features a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The stage version includes songs from the film such as “The Greatest Show”, “A Million Dreams”, “Rewrite the Stars”, and the Golden Globe-winning “This Is Me”, alongside new songs specifically written for the theatre.
The book is by Tim Federle, with direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw. The musical is adapted from the 20th Century Studios film, with a story by Jenny Bicks, marking the first time a 20th Century Studios title has been brought to the stage by Disney Theatrical Group.
The production is produced jointly by Disney Theatrical Group and The Seelig Group, which also produced the original film. Further details on performance dates, booking, and schedule will be announced in due course.
Anne Quart and Andrew Flatt of Disney Theatrical Group described the show as “fearless in its emotion” and praised its blend of classic storytelling tradition with a contemporary, infectious score designed for the stage.
This transfer follows Disney’s previous productions at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, notably Frozen and Hercules, with the latter currently in its final weeks. The Greatest Showman will continue Disney’s strong presence in the West End.
Initial casting has been confirmed, though further casting details and exact schedules remain to be confirmed. The transfer solidifies the musical’s success and Disney’s ongoing collaboration with the iconic London theatre.
