Miss Saigon confirms West End return at Prince Edward Theatre in 2027

Cameron Mackintosh has announced that Miss Saigon will return to London’s West End for a limited season at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2027, following a successful UK and Ireland tour. Tickets go on general sale in March 2026.

Miss Saigon will play at the Prince Edward Theatre from 13 May 2027 until 8 January 2028, marking more than ten years since the musical’s last London run. The production returns to the same venue where it previously performed.

Currently, the new production is on a sell-out tour across the UK and Ireland. Due to demand, additional dates have been added for Manchester and Birmingham, with bookings open through August 2026.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh said the recent response highlights the show’s ongoing relevance. He explained the latest revival departs from the original operatic Madame Butterfly inspiration, focusing instead on the musical’s gritty 1970s dramatic roots.

Set in the closing days of the Vietnam War, Miss Saigon centres on 17-year-old Kim who works in a Saigon bar run by the Engineer and falls in love with an American GI. The score includes well-known songs such as “The Heat Is On in Saigon” and “The Movie in My Mind.”

Miss Saigon has enjoyed widespread international success, having been performed in 33 countries, 378 cities, and 15 languages. It has also won 75 major awards including Olivier, Tony and Drama Desk Awards.

The musical features music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr and Alain Boublil, with additional lyrics by Michael Mahler and new orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe based on the original by William David Brohn.

This new production is directed by Jean-Pierre van der Spuy with co-choreography by Chrissie Cartwright and Carrie-Anne Ingrouille. The creative team includes set and costume designer Andrew D Edwards, lighting designer Bruno Poet, sound designer Adam Fisher, video designer George Reeve and musical supervisor Graham Hurman.

Casting for the West End return has yet to be announced. Tickets will be available from 20 March 2026 at 11am, with further details expected closer to the on-sale date.
