Mazz Murray stars in Thin Lizzy musical Moonlight at the Eventim Apollo
Mazz Murray will lead the cast of Moonlight – The Philip Lynott Enigma in its London premiere at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith. The rock musical explores the formative years of Thin Lizzy’s frontman, opening at the iconic venue on 29 March.
Moonlight – The Philip Lynott Enigma, a new musical centred on the life of Thin Lizzy’s Philip Lynott, is set to premiere in London at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith on 29 March. The choice of venue is notable, as it was where the band recorded their famous Live and Dangerous album 50 years ago.
The show features a book and music by John Merrigan and Danielle Merrigan and is directed by Jason Figgis. It delves into Lynott’s early life and influences, weaving together a mix of biographical narrative and musical performances.
Mazz Murray will portray Philomena Lynott, Philip’s mother. Peter M Smith takes on the role of Philip Lynott himself, supported by a cast including Padraic O’Loingsigh as Brendan Behan, Riley Clark as Oscar Wilde, Luke Hayden as The Landlord, and John Newcombe as The Journalist.
A special guest appearance will be made by Eric Bell, the original founding member and guitarist of Thin Lizzy, adding an authentic touch to the production.
After its London run, Moonlight is scheduled to tour to Glasgow, Newcastle, Dartford, Birmingham, and Dublin, with dates from 20 May to 12 June. Mazz Murray’s participation is limited to the London performances.
The production is presented by Fatdan Productions, bringing this biographical rock musical to audiences keen to explore the life and legacy of one of rock music’s distinctive voices.
