Sinatra the Musical announces full West End cast including Jenna Russell

Sinatra the Musical has revealed its complete West End cast ahead of its summer run at London’s Aldwych Theatre. The production explores Frank Sinatra’s rise to fame, featuring an extensive score of his classic songs.

Sinatra the Musical, which premiered at Birmingham Rep earlier in 2023, will open at the Aldwych Theatre on 3 June with a press night scheduled for 24 June. The show follows Sinatra on New Year’s Eve 1942 as he prepares to take the stage at the Paramount Theatre in New York, a pivotal moment leading to his national stardom.

Joel Harper-Jackson stars as Frank Sinatra, supported by Ana Villafañe as Ava Gardner and Phoebe Panaretos as Nancy Sinatra, Frank’s first wife. Jenna Russell joins the cast as Dolly Sinatra, Frank’s mother, completing a strong central line-up.

The ensemble comprises a diverse group of performers including Oliver Adam-Reynolds as Nat King Cole, Becky Anderson as Lana Turner, Carl Au as Lee Mortimer, and Sam Brown as Tommy Dorsey. Other notable roles include Helen Colby as Hedda Hopper, Jenna Innes as Judy Garland, and Marty Maguire as Marty Sinatra.

The musical’s score features over 20 iconic Sinatra songs such as “That’s Life,” “One for My Baby,” “The Best Is Yet To Come,” and “Come Fly With Me,” bringing the Swing Era to life onstage.

Kathleen Marshall serves as director and choreographer, with Peter McKintosh on set design. Gareth Valentine supervises the orchestra of seventeen musicians. The creative team also includes Jon Morrell (costumes), Bruno Poet (lighting), Jonathan Deans (sound), and Akhila Krishnan (video).

This staging marks the first project in a series by Frank Sinatra Enterprises and Universal Music Group aimed at introducing Sinatra’s legacy to new audiences. The production is produced by Michele Anthony and Bruce Resnikoff alongside Tina Sinatra and Charles Pignone.

Sinatra the Musical’s detailed casting and veteran creative team underscore the ongoing interest in biographical musicals exploring major figures in 20th-century music.
