Jeeves Takes Charge returns to Charing Cross Theatre before UK tour
The Olivier Award-winning one-man show Jeeves Takes Charge is set to return to London this summer with Sam Harrison portraying 22 characters. The production will have a limited run at Charing Cross Theatre before embarking on a UK tour.
Jeeves Takes Charge will run from 13 August to 16 September 2026 at the Charing Cross Theatre. This revival precedes a subsequent engagement at Mayflower Studios and a full UK tour in 2027.
Adapted by James Duke, Edward Duke, and Hugh Wooldridge from P G Wodehouse’s stories, the show follows Bertie Wooster as his valet Jeeves attempts to navigate a series of social disasters and unwanted engagements.
The one-man show stars Sam Harrison, who will perform 22 roles including Jeeves, Bertie Wooster, Florence Craye, Gussie Fink-Nottle, Bingo Little, Uncle Willoughby, and Aunt Dahlia. Harrison has previously appeared in productions such as The Magician’s Elephant for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre. He also played Bertie Wooster in By Jeeves.
Jeeves Takes Charge was originally staged at the Fortune Theatre in 1980, produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cameron Mackintosh, Barbara Dickson, and Bernard Theobald. Edward Duke won the Olivier Award for Most Promising Newcomer for his performance in the original production.
The revival is directed by Hugh Wooldridge, with scenic design by Caite Hevner, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, and sound design by Paul Groothuis.
This return of Jeeves Takes Charge spotlights the enduring appeal of Wodehouse’s characters and the versatility required for a one-man show portraying a large cast.
