Sadler’s Wells reveals diverse new season to 2027 including BalletBoyz and Cuban Baroque
Sadler’s Wells has unveiled its latest season running through to 2027, featuring new productions from BalletBoyz, Dickson Mbi, and the return of Singin’ in the Rain. The season highlights a broad range of dance forms and international work across its London venues.
Sadler’s Wells’ upcoming season includes several world premieres and major revivals. BalletBoyz will celebrate its 25th anniversary with Six Lethargies, a new work by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt that explores trauma and emotional recovery through movement. This production runs from 18 to 21 November and features live music by a 37-piece orchestra performing Keaton Henson’s score.
Jessica Wright and Morgann Runacre-Temple debut their first company creation, Deepfake, at Sadler’s Wells East from 1 to 3 October. The piece employs dance, film, text, and green-screen technology to question political truth and media manipulation through the framing of an interview between a politician and a journalist.
Olivier Award-winning choreographer Dickson Mbi premieres Tellus at Sadler’s Wells East from 21 to 24 October. Drawing on his Cameroonian heritage and the myth of Mami Wata, the production includes dramaturgy by Simon McBurney and writing by poet Nick Drake.
Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos returns to Sadler’s Wells Theatre with the UK premiere of My Fierce Ignorant Step from 13 to 14 November. The piece features ten dancers moving in unison with choreography shaped by breath and rhythm, following Papadopoulos’s Rose International Dance Prize win in 2025.
The ballet programme extends to performances by English National Ballet with Rhythm Riot, which includes world premieres by Jae Man Joo and Micaela Taylor alongside George Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements. Ballet Black marks its 25th anniversary with a double bill featuring Mthuthuzeli November’s Olivier Award-winning Ingoma and a UK premiere by Hope Boykin.
Birmingham Royal Ballet will present a revival of Peter Wright and Galina Samsova’s Swan Lake from 28 to 31 October at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. The production is accompanied live by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
International dance forms are represented by Cuban Baroque from Acosta Danza, featuring a world premiere by Andonis Foniadakis, and Within by Indian choreographer Aditi Mangaldas, which fuses classical and contemporary kathak dance.
Other productions announced include Far From Home from Alleyne Dance, Hidden from Motionhouse, The Last Hamlet from Lost Dog, and Vortex from Humanhood. The second edition of the YFX Festival will take place in July at Sadler’s Wells East, showcasing youth dance with a Boy Blue takeover.
The season concludes with the return of Singin’ in the Rain to Sadler’s Wells next summer as part of a major tour produced by Jonathan Church Productions. The production previously played the venue in 2021, with casting and ticket sales to the public announced for 26 May 2026.
