Baby Broadway marks 10 years with family mini-festival in Covent Garden

Baby Broadway will celebrate its tenth anniversary this August with a one-day Family Sing and Play mini-festival in Covent Garden, providing a relaxed live music experience for families and young children.

Baby Broadway’s anniversary event will take place on Friday 14 August at St Paul’s Church, the Actors’ Church, on the Piazza in Covent Garden. The day-long mini-festival will gather the project’s three family concert formats under one roof, alongside a garden mini-festival.

The programme includes Baby Broadway concerts featuring West End performers singing tunes from musicals and films. Baby Gospel will bring soul and Motown classics performed by members of the CK Gospel Choir, while Baby Knees Up offers a Cockney singalong led by Tom Carradine.

Designed for children under eight and their families, the concerts combine live music with interactive elements such as bubbles and puppets, contributing to a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. Performances are scheduled for 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.

Anna Unwin, founder of Baby Broadway, launched the project as a new parent with the aim of creating a welcoming space for families to enjoy high-quality live music together. She highlighted the significance of the anniversary, saying the project has “continued to bring joy and connection to so many people” over the past decade.

Baby Broadway has previously performed in major London venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Southbank Centre, the British Library, and the Museum of London. Unwin noted that St Paul’s Church remains the organisation’s spiritual home, making it a fitting location for the first-ever mini-festival.

The festival reflects Baby Broadway’s ongoing commitment to blending professional performance with interactive elements suitable for young children, a format that has been well received since its inception. This milestone event consolidates Baby Broadway’s role in family entertainment in London’s West End.
