The Barn Theatre in Cirencester has announced the full cast and creative team for its upcoming revival of Million Dollar Quartet. The production revisits the famous 1956 jam session featuring Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.
The revival of Million Dollar Quartet, directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, will run at the Barn Theatre from Monday 15 June to Saturday 22 August, with a national press night scheduled for Thursday 18 June. The show portrays the legendary night on 4 December 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis that brought together four icons of rock ‘n’ roll.
Darren Day returns in the role of music producer Sam Phillips, joined by Connor Payne as Elvis Presley, Christopher Erasmus as Johnny Cash, Joe Bence reprising Jerry Lee Lewis, and Joey Bradick as Carl Perkins. The cast also features Jenay Naima as Dyanne, Geraint Downing as Brother Jay, and Josh Haberfield as WS “Fluke” Holland.
The production’s book is by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux and includes classic songs such as “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Fever”, “Walk The Line” and “Hound Dog”. The musical supervision is led by Lee Freeman, while Joanna Goodwin choreographs the show.
Set and costume design is by Libby Watson, with lighting designed by Alex Musgrave and sound by Nick Lodge. The production team aims to recreate the energy of that impromptu performance which became a defining moment in rock ‘n’ roll history.
This revival at the Barn Theatre contributes to the continued interest in musical stories from the early days of rock music, exploring both the performers and the cultural shifts they heralded. The casting of Day and Payne signals a focus on strong musical performances alongside the historical narrative.
The run covers the summer months into late August, positioning the show as a major offering in the Barn Theatre’s season. Details of ticket availability and scheduling have been confirmed by the venue.
