Les Misérables to release 40th anniversary all-star cast album in 2026

A new recording of Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Misérables, celebrating the musical’s 40th anniversary, will be released digitally and on double CD in May 2026. The album brings together cast members from the West End production and the international Arena Concert Spectacular tour.

Les Misérables: The 40th Anniversary All-Star Cast album will be available from 29 May 2026, featuring a brand-new recording of Boublil and Schönberg’s renowned musical. The first single, “Bring Him Home,” sung by Killian Donnelly, is currently available.

The album is described as the “ultimate recording” of the world’s longest-running musical and features performers drawn from the current West End cast, playing at the Sondheim Theatre, and the Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular world tour. This tour launched in September 2024 and has visited 30 cities globally, selling over one million tickets.

Cameron Mackintosh said the timing was ideal to capture “the first complete album of the contemporary production” as it is staged worldwide. He aimed to combine studio-recording quality with the emotion and excitement of the live stage experience, calling the result “thrilling.”

The recording stars Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean, Bradley Jaden as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Shan Ako as Éponine, Adam Gillen as Thénardier, Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette, Jac Yarrow as Marius, and James D. Gish as Enjolras.

The album release coincides with the final leg of the Arena Concert Spectacular tour, which continues with shows at Dublin’s 3Arena (29 May to 6 June), Birmingham’s Utilita Arena (11 to 14 June), London’s Royal Albert Hall (18 to 21 June), and New York’s Radio City Music Hall (23 July to 9 August).

The two-year international tour has broken box office records on recent stops in Australia, Japan, and Shanghai. Meanwhile, the London production at the Sondheim Theatre continues to play to packed houses and nightly standing ovations.

In addition to music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, the album includes original French text by Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. A 24-page booklet accompanies the release, featuring production photography and liner notes by Mackintosh, Alain Boublil, Schönberg, and theatre journalist Dominic Cavendish.

Les Misérables is based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel and has now been seen by more than 150 million people across 57 countries and 22 languages, maintaining its record-breaking run in the West End.
