The filmed version of Hadestown, featuring the original Broadway cast reunited in London, is set for release in the UK. This genre-defying musical, captured live during a limited 2025 season, offers audiences a new way to experience the acclaimed production.

Hadestown: The Musical, a live capture of the Broadway hit, will be released to UK audiences following its 2025 London run. The film was recorded over three performances of a limited season where original cast members reunited on the West End.

The show intertwines two mythic love stories: Orpheus and Eurydice’s perilous journey to the underworld and back, alongside King Hades and his wife Persephone. Created by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, the musical’s book, music, and lyrics are all penned by Mitchell, with direction by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin.

Starring in the film are André de Shields as Hermes, WhatsOnStage Award nominee Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone, and Patrick Page as Hades. The Fates are played by WhatsOnStage Award nominee Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne, and Allie Daniel, while the workers feature Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short.

Swings for the production include Lucinda Buckley, Francessca Daniella-Baker, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs, and Miriam Nyarko. The film was directed by Brett Sullivan of Steam Motion and Sound, marking the first in a planned series of Broadway live captures produced by Crosswalk and LD.

Hadestown’s filmed capture offers a chance to experience the original cast’s performances beyond the stage and reflects growing interest in bringing Broadway shows to wider audiences through high-quality recordings. The UK release will make this unique production accessible for fans of musical theatre and newcomers alike.
