Francesca Moody Productions to Present Trio of Solo Shows at The Other Palace

Francesca Moody Productions is staging a new season at The Other Palace this autumn and winter, featuring three original solo works that debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The season brings innovative storytelling and acclaimed performances to London audiences.

The Other Palace will host a season showcasing three of Francesca Moody Productions’ standout solo shows, all of which originated at Edinburgh Fringe. The season opens with Tim Crouch’s An Oak Tree, running from 7 October to 15 November, featuring guest actors yet to be announced. This 2005 piece, directed by Crouch alongside Karl James and Andy Smith, explores grief and the power of suggestion through a father and a stage hypnotist.

Following An Oak Tree, Garry Starr: Classic Penguins will run from 22 October to 3 January 2027. Created by Damien Warren-Smith, this unpredictable comedy involves the performer attempting to save books from extinction by performing every Penguin Classic novel—mostly naked and with flippers. The show is directed by Cal McCrystal with design by takis and lighting by Lily Dawford.

The final offering, running from 19 November 2026 to 10 January 2027, is Marcelo Dos Santos’s Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible Might Happen. The dark comedy stars Steven Webb reprising his role as the Comedian, a stand-up artist whose attempt at a meaningful relationship is undermined by his own fears. Matthew Xia directs this one-person piece, supported by designers Kat Heath, Elliot Griggs, and Max Pappenheim.

Francesca Moody, known for originating Fleabag and Baby Reindeer, emphasises the company’s focus on championing new voices and bold storytelling. Moody said the shows are “united by a playful theatricality and led by three brilliant and singular performers” and stressed the enduring appeal of daring solo work beyond the festival context.

Across the season, over 4,000 tickets will be priced at £20, making the innovative season accessible to wider audiences. Production management for all three shows is handled by JBPM, underscoring strong logistical support for the season’s ambitious runs.

In addition to the London season, Francesca Moody Productions is expanding its reach with Shedinburgh, a new venue at Assembly Checkpoint in Edinburgh running from 7 to 30 August. The initiative will then move to the Maria Theatre at the Young Vic from 19 September to 10 October, continuing the company’s commitment to nurturing contemporary theatre outside the West End.
