James Hameed joins RepresentAsian concert celebrating Asian talent in West End

Award-winning performer James Hameed has been confirmed for RepresentAsian: An Evening of Asian Talent at the Lyric Theatre, an event highlighting Asian performers in musical theatre and supporting arts scholarships.

James Hameed, known for providing the voice and remote puppetry for Paddington Bear in Paddington The Musical at the Savoy Theatre, will appear at RepresentAsian’s concert on 9 November 2026, hosted by EastEnders actor Nina Wadia. The evening celebrates Asian representation in musical theatre and raises funds for a scholarship at the Boury Academy.

The concert also features performers Nadim Naaman, Roshani Abbey, Soophia Foroughi, Hiba Elchikhe, Zheng Xi Yong, and Mia Kobayashi. Graduates from the Guildford School of Acting and the Royal Academy of Music — Charlie Moscrop, Sameer Dhanjee, and Shivaane Subash — will make their West End concert debuts.

RepresentAsian aims to provide platforms and opportunities for Asian artists in the industry. Last year’s event raised funds for the inaugural RepresentAsian Scholarship, which supports emerging performers in professional training.

Produced by Aixa Amarante Productions alongside partners Dishoom, the concert offers complimentary chai on arrival. The creative team includes casting director and founder Ben Armstrong, graphic designer Tom Mann for Ghostlight Productions, and Alex Kais, head of brands and partnerships for House of Kais.

Hameed expressed his enthusiasm for joining the line-up, describing the event as “one of the biggest nights yet” for celebrating Asian talent and fundraising.

The concert will take place at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue at 7.30pm on Monday 9 November 2026. Tickets start at £20.
