Chicago musical announces extensive UK and Ireland tour from February 2027

The iconic 1920s-set musical Chicago is returning to the UK with a new tour opening at New Wimbledon Theatre in February 2027. The production will bring the story of Roxie Hart and its signature songs to venues across the UK and Ireland.

Chicago is set to launch a major new tour at New Wimbledon Theatre on Friday 5 February 2027. The musical, which follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer accused of murder in 1920s Chicago, features hit numbers such as “All That Jazz”, “Cell Block Tango” and “Razzle Dazzle”.

The show’s book was written by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb, based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins. The celebrated 1996 Broadway revival, choreographed by Ann Reinking and directed by Walter Bobbie, influenced the style of this long-running production.

Following Wimbledon, the tour travels widely, heading to Theatre Royal Plymouth, the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Sheffield Lyceum, Liverpool Empire, Newcastle Theatre Royal, and Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre among other venues. The schedule runs through to late autumn, visiting theatres across the UK and Ireland.

The tour stops include Glasgow King’s Theatre, His Majesty’s Theatre Aberdeen, Manchester Opera House, as well as the Dublin leg at a venue yet to be confirmed. Further UK locations cover Southend, Eastbourne, Birmingham, Norwich, Brighton, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Truro, Oxford, Hull, Llandudno, Sunderland, Woking, Cheltenham, Stoke-on-Trent, and Edinburgh.

Details of casting and additional dates are to be announced, signalling a broad relaunch of the musical’s presence on UK stages. The extensive itinerary underscores Chicago’s enduring appeal and its continued draw for touring audiences.

Chicago’s combination of sharp choreography, jazzy score, and its darkly comic exploration of crime and celebrity remains a staple of musical theatre repertory. This tour promises to revisit that legacy across a diverse range of theatres.
