The popular late-night comedy show Saturday Night Live UK has announced its next three hosts, featuring Cynthia Erivo, James Norton and Danny Dyer. The show’s second series continues its tradition of combining theatre and television talent in topical sketches and performances.

Saturday Night Live UK, now in its second series, will feature actors Cynthia Erivo, James Norton, and Danny Dyer as upcoming guest hosts. The show is filmed live in front of a studio audience, with each episode written, rehearsed and performed within the same week.

The programme mirrors the US version’s format, including an opening monologue, topical sketches, musical performances, and the UK’s take on the news segment Weekend Update. Each episode features a different guest host and musical guest who engages with the ensemble cast.

Danny Dyer, known for his long history of stage work including collaborations with Harold Pinter, last appeared in the West End in 2019. James Norton recently starred in the stage adaptation of A Little Life, which received critical acclaim and multiple awards. Cynthia Erivo, a three-time Oscar nominee, performed a solo show of Dracula in the West End earlier this year, following notable success in the Wicked films.

The musical guests accompanying the hosts will be Sasha Keable with Dyer, The Streets with Norton, and Blossoms performing during Erivo’s episode. Previous series hosts have included Hannah Waddingham and Ncuti Gatwa.

Saturday Night Live UK’s ensemble cast is made up of performers with strong theatre backgrounds, including Hammed Animashaun, George Fouracres, Annabel Marlow and Freddie Meredith, all of whom started their careers on stage.

This fusion of stage and television talent highlights SNL UK’s unique position within Britain’s comedy landscape, continuing to develop live sketch comedy rooted in current cultural and political conversations.
