Daniel Brocklebank and Faye Brookes to star in Double Double revival at Barn Theatre
The Barn Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming revival of Double Double, featuring Daniel Brocklebank and Faye Brookes in leading roles. The production runs from 28 April to 30 May, marking 40 years since the play’s original premiere.
The revival of Double Double, written by Rick Elice and Roger Rees, is set to open at the Barn Theatre with a press night on 30 April. Daniel Brocklebank and Faye Brookes will headline the production, directed by Ryan McBryde.
Double Double follows the story of Philippa, whose husband Richard dies just weeks before his 37th birthday. Richard’s death jeopardises Philippa’s chance to inherit his estate unless he is alive and married at that time.
To secure the £2 million inheritance, Philippa hatches a plan to find a lookalike who can impersonate Richard, allowing her to claim and share the fortune. The narrative explores themes of deception and desperation within this darkly comic premise.
The production commemorates four decades since Double Double’s first staging at the Fortune Theatre in 1986, reviving a play with enduring relevance and appeal.
At present, the wider creative team remains to be announced by the Barn Theatre. The production promises to bring fresh life to this classic piece of theatre.
