Disenchanted! musical cast announced for UK premiere at Lichfield Garrick
Casting has been revealed for the UK premiere of Disenchanted!, a musical comedy that reimagines fairy tale princesses beyond traditional stereotypes. The production opens at Lichfield Garrick in April 2026 before heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Disenchanted! challenges the familiar damsel-in-distress trope by presenting confident and humorous versions of well-known princesses including Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Hua Mulan, and others. Written by Dennis T Giacino and Fiely Matias, the musical previously enjoyed success Off-Broadway and has been performed across five continents.
The UK premiere will run at Lichfield Garrick from 24 April to 2 May 2026. It will then transfer to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with a nationwide tour planned for the following year. The production will be directed by Daniel Buckroyd.
The principal cast includes Ashley New as Mulan and Pocahontas, Eliza Bowden as Belle, Little Mermaid, and Rapunzel, Jewelle Hutchinson as the Princess Who Kissed the Frog, Lois Glenister as Snow White, Roshaan Saulnier as Sleeping Beauty and Princess Badroulbadour, and Rosie Napper as Cinderella.
The creative team also features Jennifer Deacon Say as musical director, Kayleigh Dettmer as choreographer, Sara Perks as designer, Barry Smith on lighting, and Kieran Powell as sound designer. Producers Gemma East and Josh Beaumont lead the project for Lichfield Garrick and The Production Garden respectively.
Daniel Buckroyd highlighted the strength of the cast and characters, saying the show’s blend of vocal talent and comic timing will offer audiences a memorable experience. He praised the “funny, feisty, female characters” crafted by Giacino and Matias.
Disenchanted! also gained attention with an all-star streamed production in 2021, further extending its global reach prior to this UK debut. Additional details about the show’s creative approach and supporting cast are expected to be announced in due course.
