Into the Woods announces West End run with original Bridge cast star Kate Fleetwood
The Bridge Theatre’s acclaimed revival of Into the Woods will transfer to the West End this autumn, with dates set at the Noël Coward Theatre and initial casting confirmed. The award-winning Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical revival was a major presence at this year’s Olivier Awards.
Jordan Fein’s production of Into the Woods, which began at the Bridge Theatre, will open at the Noël Coward Theatre on 22 September, running until 9 January 2027. The official opening night is scheduled for 7 October. Olivier Award nominee Kate Fleetwood will reprise her role as the Witch, with further casting yet to be announced.
The revival was the most nominated musical revival of the Olivier Awards this year, receiving 11 nods and winning two awards for Best Musical Revival and Best Lighting Design. The production also garnered nominations for director Jordan Fein, director Tom Scutt, lighting designer Aideen Malone, video designer Roland Horvath, and sound designer Adam Fisher.
Malone and Horvath won the Olivier for their lighting and video designs, contributing to the immersive visual experience of the show. The creative team includes musical supervisor and director Mark Aspinall, movement director Jenny Ogilvie, and a detailed production support team across puppetry, makeup, props, and orchestra management.
Presented in the West End by Jamie Wilson Productions, Kevin McCollum, and New Ventures Entertainment, the transfer aims to bring the Bridge’s intimate staging to a wider audience. Jamie Wilson described the show as “a masterpiece” and praised the production as the “perfect imaging” of the work.
Tickets for Into the Woods at the Noël Coward Theatre went on sale today, with full casting announcements due imminently. The production continues to underline the enduring appeal of Sondheim and Lapine’s complex, darkly comic musical.
