Into the Woods transfers to West End after Olivier Awards success

The Bridge Theatre’s revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods will open at the Noël Coward Theatre this autumn following its critical acclaim and multiple Olivier Awards nominations. The transfer highlights the production’s strong creative team and award-winning design.

Into the Woods, directed by Jordan Fein, will move from the Bridge Theatre to the West End later this year. The production was the most nominated musical revival at the recent Olivier Awards, receiving 11 nods and winning two, including Best Musical Revival.

Fein’s revival also earned nominations for director Tom Scutt, lighting designer Aideen Malone, video designer Roland Horvath, and sound designer Adam Fisher. Malone and Horvath won the Olivier Award for their design work.

The creative team for the West End transfer remains extensive and includes musical supervisor and director Mark Aspinall, movement director Jenny Ogilvie, and puppetry designers Cheryl ‘Chuck’ Brown, Max Humphries, and Tom Scutt. Sam Cox oversees wigs, hair, and make-up design.

Associate roles are filled by Georgia Green (associate director), David Allen (scenic associate), Alex Beetschen (associate musical director), Ollie Durrant (associate sound designer), Lucy Adams (associate lighting designer), and Lucy Martin (associate costume designer). Charlie Watson supervises wigs, hair, and make-up.

Production management is led by Chris Hay, with Jonathan Hall and Chris Marcus responsible for props for Marcus Hall Props. Orchestra management is handled by Andy Barnwell and Richard Weeden for BW Musicians, and casting director Stuart Burt is overseeing casting.

The Noël Coward Theatre transfer is set for autumn, with further details on the run and casting to be announced soon. The move marks a major moment for Sondheim’s work in London theatre following strong critical and award recognition.
