Jesus Christ Superstar at London Palladium adds David Thaxton and Sam Ryder
The London Palladium’s upcoming summer run of Jesus Christ Superstar has expanded its cast, welcoming David Thaxton, Desmonda Cathabel, Sam Ryder, and Tyrone Huntley. This revival retells the final weeks of Jesus’s life, spotlighting his relationship with Judas Iscariot and the tensions around the crucifixion.
More names have been confirmed for the limited summer season of Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium. The production centres on the political and emotional dynamics of Jesus Christ’s last weeks, particularly through the lens of Judas Iscariot.
Originally premiering on Broadway in 1971, Jesus Christ Superstar made its West End debut the following year. It has since maintained a significant presence in British theatre, last showing at the Barbican Theatre in 2019.
The musical has also toured regionally in 2024 and inspired a recent actor-musician revival at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury. The London Palladium production thus follows a continuing tradition of revisiting this seminal work.
Headshots of the new cast additions—David Thaxton, Desmonda Cathabel, Sam Ryder and Tyrone Huntley—have been supplied by the production. The announcement adds to the growing excitement around the anticipated revival.
