Jodie Comer to receive inaugural Outstanding Achievement in British Theatre Award

Jodie Comer has been named the first recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in British Theatre Award, to be presented at the UK Theatre Awards in October 2026. The honour recognises her significant contributions to theatre, including her acclaimed role in Prima Facie.

Jodie Comer will be presented with the inaugural Outstanding Achievement in British Theatre Award at the UK Theatre Awards ceremony on Monday 12 October 2026. The event, sponsored by Encore and hosted by La Voix, will take place at 8 Northumberland Avenue and celebrate the wide array of theatre work staged across the UK over the past year.

Comer is known for her acclaimed stage performances, including her award-winning role in Suzie Miller’s Prima Facie. Earlier this year, she toured with the production following successful runs in both the West End and on Broadway.

Her theatre accolades include WhatsOnStage, Olivier, and Tony Awards. In addition to her stage career, Comer has also received an Emmy and two BAFTAs for her work on screen.

“I’m incredibly honoured to receive the inaugural Outstanding Achievement in British Theatre Award,” Comer said. She reflected on touring Prima Facie as “one of the most special experiences” of her career, praising the unique connection live theatre creates with diverse audiences across the UK and Ireland.

Comer gave special thanks to James Bierman at Empire Productions for helping bring the tour to life, and expressed gratitude for the recognition of their journey.

The UK Theatre Awards continue to spotlight excellence and innovation across British theatre, with Comer’s award highlighting the impact of actors who successfully bridge stage and screen.
