Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical announces extended 2027 UK and Ireland tour
Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical has added extra tour dates for its major UK and Ireland run in 2027, beginning at Leicester’s Curve following its West End stint. The production explores Bob Geldof’s orchestration of the iconic 1985 Live Aid concerts.
Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical will embark on an expanded tour across the UK and Ireland in 2027, opening at Curve in Leicester in March. This comes after the show’s successful run in the West End and continues to bring the story behind the historic global music event to audiences nationwide.
The musical relives the behind-the-scenes efforts of Bob Geldof as he organised the Live Aid concerts on 13 July 1985, which took place simultaneously in London and Philadelphia. The broadcasts reached an estimated audience of 1.5 billion people worldwide, marking one of the largest live music events ever.
Featuring songs from artists who performed at Live Aid, the production includes music by Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, Madonna, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. This musical soundtrack anchors the narrative in the epochal moment of 1980s rock philanthropy.
Just For One Day premiered earlier at the Old Vic in January 2024, where it became the theatre’s fastest-selling musical. It then ran in North America at Toronto’s CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre before opening at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre in May 2025.
Written by John O’Farrell and directed by Luke Sheppard, the production features musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Matthew Brind, choreography by Ebony Molina, and casting by Stuart Burt. The show has been produced by Jamie Wilson Productions alongside numerous partners and the Old Vic with the Band Aid Charitable Trust’s permission.
The musical also supports the Band Aid Charitable Trust, having raised £1.5 million to date towards its causes. The forthcoming tour is produced by Jamie Wilson Productions in association with Curve, with detailed tour dates to be confirmed.
This ongoing interest in Live Aid’s legacy through musical theatre highlights how major cultural moments continue to resonate on stage, re-examining the intersection of music, celebrity and global philanthropy from a contemporary perspective.
