Original Hadestown Cast Recording from West End Live Capture Set for Release

Plans have been confirmed for the release of a live recording of Hadestown, featuring the original Broadway cast reunited for a limited West End season in 2025. The release marks a significant milestone for this genre-defying musical acclaimed for its inventive retelling of mythic love stories.

The live capture of Hadestown was filmed over three performances during the 2025 limited run in London, featuring original cast members including André de Shields as Hermes, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone, and Patrick Page as Hades. The recording was directed by Brett Sullivan from Steam Motion and Sound.

Hadestown, with music, lyrics and book by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, weaves together the journeys of Orpheus and Eurydice with that of King Hades and Persephone. The musical received direction from Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin and continues to play in both the West End and Broadway theaters.

Alongside the leads, the live capture also showcases performers Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne, and Allie Daniel as the Fates, with Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short as the workers. The ensemble includes swings Lucinda Buckley, Francessca Daniella-Baker, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs, and Miriam Nyarko.

The creative team for the West End production also involved David Neumann (choreography), Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), and sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz. Liam Robinson handled music supervision and vocal arrangements, with Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose responsible for the arrangements and orchestrations.

Casting was led by Jacob Sparrow in London and Duncan Stewart alongside Benton Whitley in the US, with dramaturgy by Ken Cerniglia, UK associate direction by Maria Crocker, and musical direction by Tarek Merchant. The collaboration marks Crosswalk and LD Entertainment’s first joint Broadway live capture project.

Hadestown: The Musical will premiere in North American cinemas on 24 July 2026, with the UK release date to be announced. This filmed presentation offers audiences a chance to experience the original cast’s performances beyond theatre venues.
