Paddington The Musical launches search for key supporting role Judy Brown
Paddington The Musical is seeking a young performer to join its cast as Judy Brown, a key supporting role. The search follows the show’s positive reception and multiple award nominations.
Paddington The Musical, adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books and the hit films, has announced a casting call for the role of Judy Brown. The production features music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher, a book by Jessica Swale, and direction from Luke Sheppard.
The story follows Paddington, a small bear from Peru, who finds a home with the Brown family in London. When a villain threatens Paddington’s new life, the family embarks on a rescue mission, a narrative that underpins the musical’s charm and appeal.
Since its opening late last year, Paddington The Musical has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, including a five-star endorsement from WhatsOnStage. The show was also nominated for 13 WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical.
The casting director for young performers, Nick Hockaday, is looking for someone to play Judy Brown, a role that requires a playing age between 15 and 16. However, applicants must be at least 17 to commit to the eight-show week schedule.
Candidates should possess a “high strong pop belt” vocal ability, movement experience, and be no taller than 5’3”. Interested performers are encouraged to contact the casting team via email for more information.
This search highlights the ongoing development and investment in the production as it continues to build its company following critical acclaim and award attention. Further casting details and production dates are yet to be confirmed.
