Sylvia cast recording announced ahead of 2026 UK tour and Royal Albert Hall residency
The musical Sylvia is set to release a 14-track cast album, Sylvia – The Essentials, ahead of its planned UK tour and Royal Albert Hall residency in autumn 2026. The production, which explores the life of Sylvia Pankhurst, will also see the return of Beverley Knight in the role of Emmeline Pankhurst.
Sylvia – The Essentials, a new cast recording from the musical Sylvia, will be released on 5 May through ZooNation Records. The album is produced by Grammy winner Martin Terefe and features 14 tracks showcasing the show’s blend of hip hop, funk, and soul music.
The musical’s score is composed by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, with choreography and direction by Kate Prince of ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company. The production celebrates Sylvia Pankhurst’s life and activism, focusing on her advocacy for working-class men and women and the resulting family conflicts.
Following the previously released single “March Women March,” audiences can now download the second single, “Stand Up,” featuring lead vocals by Sharon Rose, who plays Sylvia Pankhurst in the show. Beverley Knight, an Olivier Award winner for the role of Emmeline Pankhurst, is confirmed to reprise her role alongside Rose.
Sylvia is presented by The Old Vic and ZooNation in association with Sadler’s Wells. The musical first premiered at The Old Vic and has received attention for merging political themes with contemporary music and movement styles.
The announced UK tour will be a limited run in the autumn of 2026, concluding with a short residency at the Royal Albert Hall. This return will give audiences a chance to revisit a production that merges historical narrative with dynamic performance.
The release of the cast album marks a significant development for Sylvia, providing a wider audience access to its distinctive musical style and storytelling. It also supports the ongoing interest in musicals that highlight historical and political figures through innovative artistic forms.
