Sylvia releases new single ahead of UK tour marking International Women’s Day
The Olivier-nominated musical Sylvia has released a new single, “March Women March,” in support of International Women’s Day and to herald its upcoming UK tour. The production, celebrating Sylvia Pankhurst’s life and activism, will return to stages in autumn 2026.
Sylvia, the musical from The Old Vic and ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company in association with Sadler’s Wells, has made the track “March Women March” available on all streaming platforms. The single features Beverley Knight and Sharon Rose reprising their roles as Emmeline and Sylvia Pankhurst, respectively.
The upcoming UK tour is scheduled for autumn 2026, concluding with a short residency at the Royal Albert Hall. Sylvia explores the activist work of Sylvia Pankhurst, focusing on her efforts for working women and men worldwide and the resulting conflicts within her family.
Music for Sylvia is composed by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, blending hip hop, funk, and soul elements. The production is choreographed and directed by Kate Prince of ZooNation, known for her innovative work in dance theatre.
Beverley Knight, who won an Olivier Award for her portrayal of Emmeline Pankhurst, returns alongside Sharon Rose as Sylvia Pankhurst. Both artists contribute vocals to the new single, which is released ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March.
The single was produced by award-winning Martin Terefe and released on the ZooNation Records label. It serves to highlight the ongoing relevance of Pankhurst family activism while building anticipation for the production’s return to the stage.
Sylvia’s fusion of historical narrative with contemporary music and choreography continues to engage theatre audiences. This release adds a timely dimension to the show’s themes of social justice as it reconnects with a UK audience for the first time in several years.
