Rachel Tucker and Melanie La Barrie join Into the Woods cast at Bridge Theatre

Into the Woods at London’s Bridge Theatre has announced key cast changes from 20 April, with Rachel Tucker, Melanie La Barrie and John Owen Jones among those stepping into leading roles. The production continues to draw attention following its multiple Olivier Award nominations.

Into the Woods, directed by Jordan Fein with set and costume design by Tom Scutt, is currently running until 30 May at the Bridge Theatre. From 20 April, Hughie O’Donnell moves from playing the Steward to taking over as the Baker, while Rachel Tucker joins as the Baker’s Wife.

Melanie La Barrie, a WhatsOnStage Award winner, assumes the role of the Witch, and John Owen Jones replaces the Narrator/Mysterious Man. Jack Quarton steps into the role of the Steward, and Jodie Jacobs joins the company as a standby.

Continuing cast members include Valda Aviks as Grandmother/Giant, Geoffrey Aymer as Cinderella’s Father, and Bella Brown as Rapunzel. Other returning actors are Chumisa Dornford-May as Cinderella, Jo Foster as Jack, Jennifer Hepburn as Cinderella’s Stepmother, and Hana Ichijo as Lucinda.

The original leads Katie Brayben, Kate Fleetwood, Jamie Parker, and Michael Gould will play their final performances on 18 April before handing over to the new cast. This transition marks a significant change midway through the show’s run.

Into the Woods has recently secured 11 Olivier Award nominations, ranging from Best Musical Revival to nods for acting, direction, design, and technical categories. The show remains one of the capital’s noteworthy musical offerings amid London’s vibrant theatre scene.
