Jordan Luke Gage’s Redcliffe to feature post-show Q&As at Southwark Playhouse
Jordan Luke Gage’s new musical Redcliffe will host a series of post-show Q&A sessions during its run at Southwark Playhouse Borough, offering audiences insight into the creative process. The discussions feature industry guests addressing different aspects of the production.
Jordan Luke Gage’s Redcliffe, a musical he wrote and stars in, will present special post-show question-and-answer events following Tuesday matinees at Southwark Playhouse Borough. These sessions will explore elements such as the score, design, direction, and character development throughout the production’s run from 22 May to 4 July 2026.
The first Q&A on 2 June will focus on the evolution of the musical’s score. Hosted by Alex Wood from the WhatsOnStage Podcast, the panel includes musical supervisor Katy Richardson, associate musical director and orchestrator Ben Tomalin, alongside Gage himself.
Subsequent sessions will cover design with set designer Andrew Exeter and Gage on 9 June, direction and staging with director Paul Foster on 16 June, and character development with the cast on 23 June. Producer Paul Taylor-Mills joins Gage on 30 June to discuss the making of a new musical for the West End Frame Podcast.
Additionally, a session on 2 July hosted by Stonewall Housing will focus on queer storytelling and thematic elements within Redcliffe. Merchandise sales from the show will partially support Stonewall Housing, an organisation aiding LGBTQ+ individuals facing homelessness or unsafe living conditions.
Set in 18th century England, Redcliffe tells the story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold in Redcliffe, Bristol. The plot follows a man from humble origins as his relationship with a visiting sailor prompts questions about life and societal norms.
The production features Rebecca Lock, Daniel Krikler, Jess Douglas-Welsh, Adrian Hansel, Melissa Jacques, Jade Johnson, Phoebe Kyriakopoulos, Joseph Peacock, and Steven Serlin alongside Gage. It has been developed with support from MTFestUK, The Other Palace, and Bill Kenwright Limited.
Directed by Foster, with Emma Woods providing choreography, its creative team also includes Martin Hanly (costumes), Matt Hockley (lighting), and Alastair Penman (sound). The production aims to offer audiences a comprehensive view of its artistic and thematic ambitions through its Q&A series.
