Arthur Miller’s The Price revival extends run at Marylebone Theatre
Jonathan Munby’s revival of Arthur Miller’s 1968 drama The Price has been extended for two more weeks at the Marylebone Theatre thanks to strong audience demand. The production features a notable cast including two-time Olivier Award winner Henry Goodman.
Jonathan Munby’s new production of The Price focuses on two estranged brothers who meet in New York to settle the sale of their late father’s belongings. Originally premiering on Broadway in 1968, the play was nominated for two Tony Awards.
Henry Goodman stars as Gregory Solomon, delivering what one critic called “a stupendous, magnetic performance” in the WhatsOnStage review. The cast also includes Faye Castelow of Leopoldstadt as Esther Franz, Elliot Cowan known for A Little Life as Victor Franz, and John Hopkins from Dr Strangelove as Walter Franz.
The creative team behind the production features designer Jon Bausor, lighting designer Anna Watson, sound designer Max Pappenheim, casting director Helena Palmer, and associate director Eleanor Taylor. The production is a collaboration between Marylebone Theatre, Patrick Myles and David Luff, Alexander ‘Sandy’ Marshall, alongside Anthology Theatre and Tulchin Bartner Productions.
Alexander Gifford, artistic director of Marylebone Theatre and a producer on the show, expressed delight at the response from audiences, praising the cast’s work and highlighting Henry Goodman’s “iconic performance.” He also pointed to The Price’s run as raising the profile of the Marylebone as a lively London venue.
The extended run of The Price will now continue until 21 June, allowing more London theatre-goers to experience this revival of Miller’s classic, whose themes of family conflict and unresolved legacy remain resonant.
