Abigail’s Party transfers to West End with Tamzin Outhwaite and Kevin Bishop
Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party is set for a limited West End season at the Harold Pinter Theatre later this year, featuring Tamzin Outhwaite and Kevin Bishop in the lead roles. The production follows its run at Theatre Royal Stratford East and a UK tour, marking another revival of the iconic 1977 play.
Abigail’s Party will arrive at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 12 August to 19 September 2026, presented by Theatre Royal Bath Productions. The cast includes Tamzin Outhwaite as Beverly and Kevin Bishop as Laurence, with Pandora Colin as Sue, Omar Malik as Tony, and Lauren Patel as Angela.
Set in Essex in 1977, the play focuses on Beverly and Laurence as they host drinks for their neighbours, against the backdrop of a teenage party next door. Mike Leigh originally developed the play through improvisation with its first cast.
The play premiered at Hampstead Theatre in 1977 before being adapted for the BBC’s Play for Today. Since then, it has become a staple of British theatre revivals, widely recognised for its sharp character study and social commentary.
The production is directed by Nadia Fall, with a creative team that includes Peter McKintosh on set and costume design, Howard Harrison on lighting, Alexandra Faye Braithwaite on sound, James Cousin as movement director, and Amy Ball as casting director.
Tickets for the West End run went on sale at midday on 26 May, offering audiences the chance to experience this enduring British classic. Abigail’s Party continues to command attention as a key work in the country’s theatrical canon.
