New fairytale musical Snow White and Me releases cast recording featuring Rob Madge
The family musical Snow White and Me, with music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary, has released its original cast recording. The album features West End performer Rob Madge and captures the contemporary retelling of classic fairytales.
Snow White and Me, a new fairytale musical by composer and lyricist Pippa Cleary, has made its original cast recording available to stream. The show, with a book by Philip LaZebnik and Ronald Kruschak, centres on siblings Alex and Daisy who are pulled into a fairytale realm where the villainous Queen Endora is changing stories as she pleases.
After touring Europe and receiving its first English-language production in Missouri, directed by Lisa Brescia, the musical now presents its cast recording. The album features Rob Madge as the Magic Mirror alongside Gea Rose Henry (Daisy), Angelina Nazario (Alex), Joe Murphy (Prince Jeremy), Kylie Howard (Endora), Matthew Kischer (Rumpelstiltskin), and Quinten Loveland (Wolf).
Three singles—”Perfect Princess,” “Find My Story,” and “Brand New Tune”—have been released ahead of the full album’s debut. The musical’s score draws inspiration from Cleary’s admiration for Disney composers including Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, aiming to capture the spirit of a classic family fantasy.
Brescia also contributes to the album with a bonus track, “My Sister,” performed alongside Cleary herself. The ensemble includes students from Missouri’s Stephens College, providing the choral and supporting voices throughout the recording.
Musical direction comes from Nollie Moore and Joe Davison, who also handled supervision, production, mixing, and mastering. The orchestration was provided by Joe Davison and Simon Nathan, with vocals recorded in Missouri and instrumental tracks added by West End musicians at Auburn Jam Studios in London.
Initially commissioned by Bettina Weyers of Berlin-based Gallissas, Snow White and Me offers a contemporary take on familiar stories that explores the theme of “finding your own story,” a concept Cleary identified as the driving creative force behind the production.
