Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson joins immersive Grease musical cast at Evolution London

Ricky Wilson, frontman of the Kaiser Chiefs, has been confirmed to play Teen Angel in the upcoming 2026 run of Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical at Evolution London. The production offers audiences a live, multi-sensory experience based on the iconic 1978 film.

The Secret Cinema production of Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical returns following a sold-out 2025 run, featuring a cast of 30 performers and a live band. Audiences will be immersed in the world of Rydell High, moving through locations such as Frosty Palace, the autoshop, and a carnival while watching multiple screens showing the original movie.

Ricky Wilson will take on the role of Teen Angel, joining previously announced cast members Stephanie Costi as Sandy and Lucy Penrose as Rizzo. Giórgios Michaelídes will play Danny, with Archangelo Ciulla as Kenickie. Full casting is yet to be announced.

The production invites audience participation in scenes like a pep rally and choir rehearsal, accompanied by 1950s American diner-themed food and drink. Songs such as “Summer Nights”, “Greased Lightnin’” and “We Go Together” are performed live alongside the screening of the original film.

Wilson, who played Doody in a school production of Grease, commented on his new role, saying he sees this as his chance to “redeem” himself and “show everyone I should have gotten a bigger part.” He joked about his school production not producing any professional singers, adding “in short, I win.”

The creative team behind the immersive experience includes director Matt Costain, choreographer Jennifer Weber, and set designer Tom Rogers. Lighting is by Howard Hudson, sound design by Gareth Fry, and costume design by Susan Kulkarni and Martina Trottman. Video design is by Ian William Galloway, with music supervision and arrangements by Steve Sidwell.

The 2026 run at Evolution London, from 22 July to 13 September, will feature both roam and return seating options, allowing audiences to explore the environment before returning to designated seats at locations like the Frosty Diner and the Drive-In. The production is produced by Secret Cinema and TodayTix, with Merritt Baer and Ben Hosford in key creative leadership roles.

Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical previously received positive reviews, including a glowing appraisal from WhatsOnStage last year, affirming its appeal as a fresh take on a classic film within an interactive theatre format.
