Mason Alexander Park returns to lead Olivier-winning Oh, Mary! in West End

Mason Alexander Park has rejoined the West End production of Oh, Mary! as Mary Todd Lincoln, reprising the role they originally originated in London. The Olivier-winning wartime comedy has seen recent casting changes, including Catherine Tate’s departure.

Oh, Mary! continues its West End run with Mason Alexander Park taking over the lead role of Mary Todd Lincoln until 18 July. Park replaces Catherine Tate, who left the production due to personal reasons. The show centres on a historically dubious portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln, an alcoholic housewife dreaming of the cabaret stage, and her closeted husband, the President.

Created by Tony Award-winning writer Cole Escola, Oh, Mary! received critical acclaim for its “80 minutes of perfectly judged silliness,” as described by WhatsOnStage’s Sarah Crompton. The production also won the Olivier Award for Best New Entertainment.

Currently, the cast includes Scott Karim as Mary’s Husband, Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher, Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, and Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant. The show is directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton.

The creative team features scenic designer dots, costume designer Holly Pierson, lighting designer Cha See, sound designers Daniel Kluger and Drew Levy, wig designer Leah J Loukas, props supervisor Addison Heeren, and arranger David Dabbon. Casting is by Stuart Burt.

Looking ahead, Cole Escola will take on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln from 20 July to 15 August 2026. Following this, Jinkx Monsoon will star in a limited six-week season at the Trafalgar Theatre from 17 August to 26 September 2026.

Casting details for the role of Mary Todd Lincoln from 28 September onwards are yet to be confirmed. The production’s blend of historical absurdity and cabaret-style comedy remains a distinctive highlight in the West End theatre landscape.
