Dog Man: The Musical announces cast for UK and European tour
Dog Man: The Musical has revealed its cast for the European debut, set to tour the UK with stops including the Southbank Centre in summer 2026. The production brings the popular graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey to life under the creative direction of Jen Wineman.
Dog Man: The Musical, based on Dav Pilkey’s best-selling series, has unveiled its touring cast ahead of its UK and European run. The show is scheduled to appear at venues including Leicester Curve, Crewe Lyceum, and the Southbank Centre from July to October 2026.
The musical adapts Pilkey’s story of George and Harold – two friends whose comic creation Dog Man, a half-dog, half-policeman hero, tries to keep the city safe while they complete their stage show. The original graphic novels first published in 2016 have sold over 70 million copies worldwide and been translated into 48 languages.
Dog Man: The Musical features a book and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila with music by Brad Alexander. Direction and choreography are by Jen Wineman, continuing the show’s journey since its 2019 premiere at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and a 2023 return to New World Stages in New York.
The announced cast includes Vanessa Dumatey as Flippy, Sam Kipling as Petey, Peter Lavery as Harold, Ricardo Mendes as George, Rebecca-Jo Roberts as L’il Petey, and Renan Teadoro as Dog Man. The ensemble is completed by Richener Bissereth, Shannon Bourne, and Robert Wilkes.
Production design elements are led by Timothy R Mackabee on scenic design, Heidi Leigh Hanson on costumes, David Lander on lighting, and Emma Wilk on sound. Lloyd Kikoler handled orchestrations and Paul Herbert is musical director, with casting by Pearson Casting.
The tour will begin at Leicester Curve from 16 to 19 July 2026 and includes a run at Southbank Centre from 30 July to 16 August. Further dates extend into October across venues such as Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre and the Wycombe Swan, with additional 2027 dates to be confirmed.
The UK and European tour marks the first time Dog Man: The Musical has played outside of the US, reflecting the ongoing popularity of Pilkey’s work, which was also adapted into an animated film earlier this year.
