Heathers the Musical unveils London and UK tour cast ahead of Marble Arch debut

Heathers the Musical has announced key casting for its upcoming London run at the Arts at Marble Arch and a UK and Ireland tour, signalling a significant new chapter for the award-winning show.

Heathers the Musical will begin performances at the new Arts at Marble Arch theatre, a temporary home for the Arts Theatre with a 594-seat capacity, running from 9 July to 22 August. Following this, the production will embark on a tour starting in Windsor, with full dates yet to be confirmed.

The show’s casting announcement includes Louis Hearsey as Jason “JD” Dean, with Liberty Stottor, Jessica Ibadin and WhatsOnStage Award nominee Lou Henry filling the roles of the Heathers: Chandler, Duke, and McNamara respectively. Veronica Carabai and Sophie Manners will also appear, along with a wider ensemble featuring Markus Södergren, Beau Jackson, Reuben Browne, and others in multiple roles.

Created by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, Heathers is based on the 1989 cult film famously starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The musical premiered in Los Angeles in 2013 and transferred to New York’s New World Stages in 2014. A revised London production opened in 2018, introducing new material that has since been included in the current New York version.

The show has enjoyed three West End runs and three UK and Ireland tours and won the Best New Musical accolade at the WhatsOnStage Awards in 2019. It was also filmed for streaming on the Roku Channel in 2022, broadening its audience beyond the stage.

The production is directed by Andy Fickman, with choreography by Gary Lloyd, design by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Dan Samson, and musical supervision by Jeremy Wootton and Will Joy. These creative leads bring a cohesive vision to what will be the first production to open at the Arts at Marble Arch.

The casting for the central role of Veronica will be revealed at 3pm on Sunday 21 June, coinciding with the performer’s appearance at this year’s West End Live event. This announcement is eagerly awaited as it completes the main ensemble for the highly anticipated run.

Heathers continues to maintain a firm presence in UK musical theatre, blending dark comedy with a cult film legacy and securing its place through successive tours and West End performances. This latest staging and tour underline its enduring popularity.
