Legally Blonde Tour Hosts Concert Performance with Jodie Steele and Grace Mouat

The Legally Blonde musical tour presented a special concert performance at Milton Keynes Theatre, featuring former cast members Jodie Steele and Grace Mouat. This one-night event addressed recent cast absences and ensured audiences could still experience the full story and music.

After star Amber Davies fell ill with a chest infection, alongside other cast absences, producers of the Legally Blonde tour arranged a concert-style performance for the evening at Milton Keynes Theatre. To cover company members, Jodie Steele and Grace Mouat, both previous Legally Blonde performers, joined the tour for the revised one-off event.

Jodie Steele, who played Margot in the 2015 open-air staging in Leicestershire, took on the role of Paulette for the concert. Grace Mouat, who portrayed Pilar in the 2022 Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production, stepped into the role of Serena for the evening.

The company informed ticket holders that the concert production featured the principal cast with a few special guests and included the full story, acting, and all the songs. While there were no costume or set changes, the audience still enjoyed the complete narrative and musical numbers.

Legally Blonde follows the journey of a misjudged young woman who defies social expectations and graduates from Harvard Law School. The musical features music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach. It is based on Amanda Brown’s novel and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture of the same name.

The show originally debuted on Broadway in 2007 and opened in the West End in 2010, winning four WhatsOnStage Awards and three Olivier Awards. The tour launched earlier this year, following a successful revival at Curve in Leicester and the acclaimed 2022 Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production.

This concert performance demonstrates how touring productions can adapt quickly to cast absences, preserving the integrity of popular musicals while maintaining connection with audiences.
