Fame revival at Theatre Royal Plymouth reveals full 2026 cast and creative team
Theatre Royal Plymouth has announced further casting for its 2026 revival of Fame the Musical, marking 30 years since the show’s European premiere at the venue. The production will run from 28 July to 15 August, directed and choreographed by Tom Jackson Greaves.
The new production of Fame the Musical is set at Theatre Royal Plymouth in summer 2026, commemorating the 30th anniversary of its 1995 European premiere at the same venue. The revival features songs from the original 1980 film alongside the stage book by Jose Fernandez, lyrics by Jacques Levy, and score by Steve Margoshes.
Tom Jackson Greaves will both direct and choreograph the show, with design by Soutra Gilmour and casting by Stuart Burt. The 1995 debut at Theatre Royal Plymouth led to a West End run exceeding a decade and an international tour, establishing Fame as a global stage success.
The extensive cast list includes Joe Boyle as Nick Piazza, Megan Ellis as Serena Katz, and Harrison Wilde as Joe (Jose) Vegas. Notable cast members also playing multiple roles or covers include Toby De Salis, James Hastings, and Kieron O’Donnell.
Additional recently revealed cast include Waylon Jacobs as Mr Myers, Alasdair Buchan as Mr Sheinkopf, Edwin Ray as Mr Bell and dance captain, and Rachel Jayne Picar covering ensemble teacher duties. One further cast member remains to be confirmed.
Set in 1980s Manhattan, Fame follows students at New York’s High School of Performing Arts through their journey from enrolment to graduation, exploring the trials and ambitions of life in a demanding creative environment.
This latest revival not only pays homage to Fame’s enduring legacy since its 1995 Plymouth premiere but also reinforces the continued appetite for musical dramas rooted in youth culture and performing arts education.
