The Producers marks Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday with special ticket offer
The hit West End production of The Producers is celebrating Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday this June with a unique ticket promotion and the return of Andy Nyman to the cast. The musical continues to draw audiences at the Garrick Theatre as it approaches the centenary of its legendary creator.
Plans have been announced to commemorate Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday on 28 June during the ongoing run of The Producers at the Garrick Theatre. The show follows two theatrical producers who scheme to make a fortune by staging the worst musical imaginable, only to be surprised by its success.
Andy Nyman has rejoined the cast as Max Bialystock after a short break, reprising his central role in the production. The show is directed by Patrick Marber and features the original book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Brooks.
The production has been well received, earning praise including a four-star review from the Menier Chocolate Factory staging before transferring to the West End. The review described it as “hugely entertaining.”
Throughout June, audiences can purchase 100 specially priced tickets at £19.26, marking the year of Mel Brooks’ birth, 1926, available for weekday performances. Additionally, anyone celebrating their own 100th birthday this year is eligible for a free ticket, provided they present a photo ID and a telegram from King Charles III at the box office.
The current cast also includes Marc Antolin as Leo Bloom, Trevor Ashley as Roger de Bris, Raj Ghatak as Carmen Ghia, Harry Morrison as Franz Liebkind, and Joanna Woodward as Ulla.
The production originated from a sell-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory before transferring to the Garrick Theatre, where it will run until 19 September.
