Guys and Dolls revival to tour Scotland with Lyceum production in 2027
The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh has announced a new staging of the classic musical Guys and Dolls, set to run in spring 2027 before touring across Scotland. The co-production highlights the theatre’s continuing commitment to its annual spring musical slot.
Guys and Dolls will open at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh from 26 March to 1 May 2027 under the direction of artistic director James Brining. Following its Edinburgh run, the production will tour Aberdeen Performing Arts, Eden Court Inverness, Citizens Theatre Glasgow, and Dundee Rep Theatre, with dates to be confirmed.
The musical, based on stories and characters by Damon Runyon, centres on a group of gangsters engaged in a marathon craps game. It features iconic songs by Frank Loesser including “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat” and “Luck Be A Lady,” as well as a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.
Set between New York and Havana, the show explores the intersecting lives of gamblers, showgirls and missionaries, focusing on two unfolding romances amid high-stakes bets and personal ambitions.
This production continues the Lyceum’s tradition of a spring musical, a slot that has become a regular and anticipated part of its seasonal programming.
The collaboration across multiple Scottish venues underlines a growing trend in regional co-productions, enabling wider access to major musical theatre works.
With James Brining at the helm, the revival is poised to offer a fresh interpretation of this mid-20th century classic, though specific casting and creative details remain to be confirmed.
